Are you ready to believe? Etta James and Dr John perform I’d Rather Go Blind. They modify the lyrics from the original. But it’s okay. How do we know this? Oh baby oh baby oh baby, how do we know this? ‘Cause Dr John, Dr John, he would never do nothin’ in his whole life.
(Lyrics and credits, below. Story to follow.)
….I was just I was just sittin’ here I was thinkin’ baby
I was thinkin’ about your sweet kiss and your– [sees Dr John]
When I looked down in the glass that I held to my lips and I saw the reflection of the tears rolling down my face that’s when I knew I loved you and I can’t do without you and I’d rather be a blind girl baby baby baby baby baby baby
And oh baby and oh baby and oh baby hey baby baby baby baby baby baby….[Dr John]: Yeah and I’d rather be a blind boy than to give you up
Don’t you know that little girl I was runnin’ around with was just a little side show in my life
You know and it wasn’t nothin’ serious I guess I was just a little delirious, I guess I lost my mind, but I’d rather be blind than to watch you go[Etta]: I don’t wanna go
[Dr John]: I don’t wanna see you go….[Etta]: Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Please don’t walk away from me baby Hey baby….
[Etta]: I don’t wanna see you leave me
[Dr John]: I wouldn’t leave you for nothin’ in this world no no[Etta]: I don’t want you to go
[Dr John]: You know I would never do nothin’ in my life[Etta]: And oh baby
[Dr John]: Oh yeah….

Pretty awesome blues. I never saw Etta James, but I did see BB King a couple times back in the day. He was quite amazing.

Absolutely, Tom! I would have loved to see this show live. I agree with you, B.B. King is amazing, especially the way he connects with his audience.
