Whispers in the air, smoke tangled in my hair
Was I here, were you there
A dream, only a dream
Mine, immaculate dream made breath and skin
I’ve been waiting for you
Circling, closing in, the wolf and its prey
Pulling closer and tearing away
Shattered edges, a razor’s bouquet
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Scorching, icy eyes set ablaze
Wild, pure, slicing through the haze
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Rushing beauty, thundering heart
Exquisite crushing, pain’s stunning art
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Tenderly held, longingly drowned
Love’s beauty, finally, perfectly crowned

I like the double exposure, the conversation. It is a great writing exercise to converse with what has already been written and transform and own it.

Very good, enjoyed this poem a lot, and before I read your comment below the poem, the song that it reminded me of is Who do you love, by Jim Morrison and the Doors, so in your honor tomorrow I will blog this song, Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

Thanks very much, Charles! I’m glad you enjoyed this one. Great idea; I’m looking forward to your blog tomorrow and I’m already honored! The Doors’ drummer John Densmore did a fantastic job on Who Do You Love. Now I’m thinking of George Thorogood’s and Bo Diddley’s songs…. Thanks again 🙂

I think I remember Ronny Hawkins do a good version of this song with the Band during the film The last Waltz. 🙂
