In the mood for some quiet introspection? Maybe not entirely quiet? Allow me to suggest beauty and rough edges. Here’s Metallica and friends, with their rendition of Tuesday’s Gone. This performance is from Metallica’s 30th Anniversary Tour.
Song lyrics and credits, below. Enjoy!
Train roll on, on down the line
Won’t you please take me far, far away
Now, I feel the wind blow outside my door
I’m leaving my woman at home
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
My baby’s gone with the windI don’t know where I’m going
I just want to be left alone
When this train ends, I’ll try again
I’m leaving my woman at home
My baby’s gone
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
My baby’s gone with the windTrain roll on, many miles from my home
See, I’m ridin’ my blues away
Well, Tuesday, you see, she had to be free
Somehow, I’ve got to carry on
My baby’s gone
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
Tuesday’s gone with the wind
My baby’s gone with the wind
My baby’s goneRide on train, ride on train
Ride on train, ride on train
Lord knows, I can change
Lord knows, I can change
Lord knows, I can change
Lord knows, I can change
Ride on train, ride on train
Ride on train, ride on train
Lord, I can change
Ride on train

Hi! I haven’t come across a GNR version but that’s something I’d like to hear. Phish did a great job covering this one, if you’re interested. One of my other favorite versions is by Gregg Allman. This song is so beautifully written that it sounds good from heavier metal to country. If you like country or country/rock, you might enjoy the Skynyrd Frynds tribute album that includes Hank Williams Jr’s performance of Tuesday’s Gone.
