There are as many definitions of a beautiful life as there are individuals. What are some key ingredients to living the life we want?
Living the life we want
One common denominator to achieving our goals is the importance of never giving up. We all know this; however, sometimes challenges loom too large and seep through the cracks of our willpower.
Who has some of the best advice on how to persevere in the face of adversity? The U.S. Navy SEALs, of course. These warriors have much insight into the survival mentality; they have all beaten the odds to achieve their goals.
U.S. Navy SEAL wisdom
They could beat you, run you, make you endure untold cold and pain, and kill you…but they could never make you quit. ~Walter Diaczenko, U.S. Navy SEAL, on Hell Week.
They’re not really supposed to kill you. It’s against the rules. Unlike life where it’s pretty much a free-for-all.
Nobody can make you quit
This is a universal truth: Nobody can make you quit. Only you can do that. Many forces, many circumstances, many people may all make it very difficult for you; they may push you to the brink, but they can’t make you give up.
Beware also of more gentle forces: the lure of complacency, comfort, safety. They can also conspire to make you quit. Before you wrap yourself in the warm blanket of immediate gratification, ask yourself if it’s worth the price of your goal.
Never giving up your dream
This is your beautiful life. It’s yours to create however you please. Each day is yours to pursue your goals and dreams. Don’t give that up.
Each challenge that you overcome, each day that you’re on the edge, you’ll discover new strength. You are stronger than you may realize.
Hell Week is designed as the ultimate test of will and tenacity. It will also show you that you are capable of 20 times more than you ever thought you could accomplish. ~Kory Knowles, U.S. Navy SEAL, on Hell Week.
Facing your adversity
Anyone who strives to achieve more, to create a more beautiful life than yesterday, will face adversity. Challenges, sabotage, assorted evils are around each corner. Face them. Do not shrink. Do not let anything or anyone make your life less than the one you want.
Making it back from hell
Anyone can be pushed to their limits, then beyond. You can make it through hell. You can make it back. When you do, you’ll find that you can do anything.
Anyone can go to Hell, let’s see you make it back. ~Kory Knowles, U.S. Navy SEAL, Hell Week, Class motto.
