Southern Nights (Live)

The one and only Allen Toussaint!  A wonderful introduction along with his performance of Southern Nights.  The world is a little less beautiful….

Lyrics and credits, below.  Enjoy.

Southern nights
Have you ever felt a southern night?
Free as a breeze
Not to mention the trees
Whistling tunes that you know and love so

Southern skies
Just as good even when closed your eyes
I apologize to anyone who can truly say
That he has found a better way

Feel so good
Feel so good
It’s frightening
Wish I could stop this world from fighting

Southern skies
Have you ever noticed southern skies?
Its precious beauty lies just beyond the eye
It goes rushing through your soul
Like the stories told of old
Old man
He and his dog that walked the old land
Every flower touched his cold hand
As he slowly walked by
Weeping willows
Would cry for joy

Like this and many others in the trees
They all blow in the night
In the southern skies
Southern skies

  1. I wasn’t familiar with the name until this week and now I’ve heard a few nice tributes (including this one). He sounds like the kind of artist that was really important to a lot of artists that are very important to me
