Yes! I like the optimism. It’s also very well arranged and controlled. Interesting to consider against the backdrop of the era.

Excellent choice… the golden age of radio right here.

So glad you like it, J! The golden age of radio has some wonderful music that inspired generations.

It does. It’s the uplifting nature of a lot of the music… especially when, as you’ve pointed out, you consider the backdrop. Some really wonderful stuff.

Absolutely! It can also be easy to overlook this type music as inconsequential, but there’s a lot of substance to be found. It would make a great sociological study.

I agree completely. I think a lot of folks would tend to overlook it or turn their nose up at the throwaway spring in the song structures and melodies and suchlike, but there is more substance in there than, say, the entire output of 90s popular music.

I’ve loved this song for a long time (a few versions of it) and this post has started my week on a high note. Thanks for that.

AHA! I just KNEW u were going to put this 1 up!
Yes, deep n meaningful lyrics – I want to use SH-BOOM SH-BOOM in my fiction – it ought to b in th dictionary
Notice how I am selecting only UK bands for my series – I guess u probably never heard any of them before? Makes it a more interesting Challenge?
Next Week: my Day 3 – get ready to ROCK!
Hope u’re having a Happy Monday!
Cheers!

Haha! 🙂 You know me well!
It’s good to lighten things up once in a while. I’d love to see sh-boom sh-boom in your fiction! It would be perfect with graphics too.
I did indeed notice the UK band focus. The distinctive sound is a treat and there’s a lot of talent to choose from. Hearing new songs is a pleasure — we can never have too many new favorites.
I’m looking forward to your rocking next week!
Thanks so much and Happy Monday to you as well. 🙂

Of course, in th acronym BRAD, th D stands for Distinctive – why waste time replayin th same ol Lady Po-Go and Justin Bibbel et al when there r countless thousands of unheard gems out there!
Likewise, hope to listen to another of your scintillating gems nxt wk! Will u make this an ongoing feature on your blog?
It’s better to lighten things up more frequently than that!
Cheers!

I’m not at all surprised that the D stands for Distinctive! You most certainly are. 🙂 I agree with your approach to music.
Thanks so much! This may turn into an ongoing feature, but it’s a bit early to tell….
You’re right about lightening things up more frequently! Hmm…maybe it should be an ongoing feature!
Will yours become an ongoing feature?

Just had my Sweet Essence Of Giraffe reblogged – it’s not every day u can type something like that! – so maybe, just maybe…
U cld do anything, Danica, and th bloggers will come from far n wide anyway!
If I didn’t strive to b distinctive, wld I have lasted this long?
Th Sh-Boom is strong w this 1!
Cheers!

I saw that! Congratulations! Definitely maybe. 🙂
You are too kind, Brad. Thank you so much.
You’d be an entirely different Brad without your distinctiveness.
Sh-boom! 🙂

Wonderful song. Reeks of optimism and innocence. I used to listen to it on my Mother’s “Oldies But Goodies” album when I was a kid.
