My Mom had this one on her jukebox when we were kids. Cool beans.

How wonderful that she had a jukebox! I hope it brought back some good memories.
The lyrics make me smile every time I hear it.

I remember everything about that old thing. Huge piece of my childhood…
This does indeed bring back memories. Thanks!

Yup, she had an old Rockola full of 45s from the 50s and 60s. We played it a lot. We kept a jar of quarters on the window ledge beside it, and when they ran out, we’d open the side door and bring them back up to the jar again. Recycling coins!

Sorry I can’t listen to this – as a student I worked in a warehouse for a summer and this was one of the 8 songs they had on the PA system that played all day, every day – 8 SONGS!!!! I was working 12 hour days … if I were to hear the opening chords it would send me straight back to ‘Nam!

Haha! 🙂 That’s hilarious but not, and my apologies for laughing. Which were the other 7?
It does seem unnecessarily cruel… an aspect not lost on the military.
Was this around the time you wanted to be an elf?

No, I’d passed through my elfin phase by that point, I was a bit too burly.
I can only remember ‘Purple People Eater’ and ‘Monster Mash’ (shudders uncontrollably). Sorry, I need to retreat to my safe place now.

Oh no! I like those two songs but can imagine how much that would change hearing them on rotation 12 hours a day. A warm glass of milk might help. 🙂
