“Challenge yo’self!”
I am!
Has it really only been fifteen minutes??
“Faster! Higher!”
Okay! Okay!
Ohmigod, when is the last time I participated in an exercise class? Hmm. Hard to say… lol.
Come on princess
Now the weights!
If I don’t make it will someone please feed Hank the Hedgehog?
Now the steps!
Another hour??
Now the mat!
A wave of nausea
Probably unrelated
Weights again!
Should have brought water
Steps again!
Should have put my hair up
Mat again!
Go, go, go
More weights!
“Challenge yo’self!”
More steps!
I’ve got the rhythm, baby
More mat!
“Feel it in yo’ core!”
Weights!
“Challenge yo’self!”
Steps!
What song is this?
Mat!
I should be disco dancing
Weights!
Oh-
Steps!
-mi-
Mat!
-god!
Weights!
Ten more!
Steps!
Higher!
Mat!
One push up! Just one! Half — okay, get back up!
Faster!
Jump rope!
Weights again!
Slow, hold, back
Steps again!
Higher!
Mat again!
More!
Jump rope again!
Back to weights!
Slow — hold — burn, baby
Back to steps!
Double time!
Back to mat!
Hold! Again! Hold! Again!
Release!
“Stretch….”
Is it over?
Holy cow! I made it!
Damn.
~
“You’re looking a little flushed…”
Yeah, baby. “It’s been a while.”
“There are other classes better suited to starting out….”
Agreed that Body Blast isn’t the most gentle re-introduction to exercise classes. Maybe I should try angels fearing to tread or something. You know, avoiding risk of unconsciousness. Sage advice.
But, damn. That was awesome.
“It’s good to jump right in!”
Love your body, baby! Whether by measured increments or full tilt — love your body, baby.

OMG! I was exhausted just reading that! Haha!

Haha, me too! My goal is to stick with it so it gets easier. Whatever doesn’t kill us, right? 🙂

Thanks for the potent reminder of why I’ve never set foot in a gym!

Oh no! That’s not my intention! It’s really awesome, especially afterward. I recommend trying it, at least. It’s good to try most things once… or twice. 🙂

Thanks, but no thanks. I’m off to play tennis now on a cold but bright Melbourne Sunday morning!

Danica, just going to look through your posts and enjoy each unique moment with you!
I am so glad you shared the wish for Disco music! This got me smiling! 🤗 You go, girl!

Yes, the disco music was great! It was actually dance music but I imagined disco, lol.
Haha, love that! Thanks so much, Robin! 🙂

I remember since I’m older how excited I was when I was in college when the song came out (and girls flocked to the dance floor) “It’s raining men, alleluia!!”

That would be perfect for an exercise class! Perfect tempo and fun to dance to.

Aww, this was so nice of you to provide my old disco dancing song!
It is a little like “All the Single Ladies” song. 🙂 🎶
I have almost finished the whole award post. I’m excited that it is pretty close to how you did yours. Since you said we could make up questions, I combined both “new facts about myself” and “questions the nominees could answer.” I’m an old hippie who still breaks a few rules, Danica. 😊 Thank you again for this pleasant surprise. 🎆

I’m happy that you like it! Yes, this song must have inspired or played a role in “All the Single Ladies”.
Absolutely, make up your own questions! Awards should be fun and flexible. I’m looking forward to “new facts about you” and “questions nominees could answer”. Choices are good! Breaking a few rules is good for the spirit, Robin. 🙂

Thanks very much! Of course you’re top of mind, Brad. 🙂
I love your award post! Wampa Stomp! Also enjoyed your questions — and changes! — Brad Lives 🙂
Congrats on your artwork and thanks for the update… exciting news, although we miss you in the blogosphere. You know, I’ve never had a sardine sandwich and admire your stance on McD’s… and I need to see Lawrence of Arabia. I’m surprised I haven’t seen it…I’m reflecting on this and wondering whether I’ve seen it or parts of it a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
I have to agree with you about writing when a storm is howling outside; it’s poetry in motion.
Thank you again for your kind words and encouragement. 🙂
