Have you ever had one of those days where you’re rushing around, scrambling and maybe even forgetting things?
What is the result?
Stress! You feel like the day is running you.
What is the antidote?
Starting your morning purposefully allows you to own your day (or night/afternoon, depending on your sleep/awake schedule).
8 Steps to Owning Your Day
- Sit or stand quietly for 1 minute upon waking.
- Resist the urge to check your phone, email, social media, etc.
- Have breakfast. Try to have a nutritious breakfast. Try to eat mindfully.
- Enjoy a ritual, be it a cup of coffee, tea, watering plants, feeding fish.
- Meditate for 10 minutes. Pray instead or in addition, if you prefer.
- Exercise for 10 minutes.
- Hold one positive thought.
- Smile.
Now you can check your phone and start your computer. 🙂
Enjoy the day! You own it, baby.
.
P.S. If this seems like a good idea but you couldn’t possibly find the time, consider getting up earlier. This may mean getting to sleep earlier. I know, I know. But try it. Modify the 8 Steps if necessary. The results will be worth it.
.
Must try!
Sounds very promising!

I’m with you Deke with the lack of a phone & with no lack of ladies as my housemates!
Nice ideas Danica, I find some of those work for me. It’s counter-intuitive to think that by taking time to pause, you get more done, but it works!

Thanks, Geoff! Yes, it does seem counter-intuitive but it’s worked for me. Hopefully it will help someone else too. 🙂

I’m already putting invasions out when I talk to, the party of the Century. Just imagine…Andy Waho, Jim Morrison, moving his fine self around the room and Andy’s place! That’s what I’m expecting, people getting pushed in pool, lovers sneaking off with another….who knows.

I’m a bit hung over….people come early for a party like this. Had to host a pre-party at my place. Wow! If it’s an indicator we are in for trouble! I was so jacked, having a blast getting to know some new folks, I haven’t been to bed. That will make everything better today. Parties like this can last for days……when you’re with Andy at his enormous mansion anything can happen, room for all and you know some are shacking up! I haven’t thrown a party like this in years, it makes me feel healthy, young and maybe a STUD!

I think you’ll have to write a book, M! 🙂

That’s the joke of the year! Writing a book is not on my bucket list. I still have future out how to cut and paste one of your images. I tried the same way as the badge but it didn’t work.
I’m one of those people who don’t read instructions on anything, just wait till I need to know. The rate at which WP makes changes I don’t see a need to learn the system.
What do you think of my new Theme?
I upgraded my account a while back and now getting around to using my fee premuim Themes. It feels a bit cold, less inviting and more steps to read a post. I would love your feedback.
We’ll leave writing a book to you.

Understandable, especially considering the time a book would take. Maybe try saving the badge to your desktop then upload to WP as a media file under WP admin, then add to your page?
I like the look of your new theme and will take a closer look at navigation this week.
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence about a book. 🙂

I liked all of your list of stress reducing actions! My Mom says “to sit and concentrate, be glad if I can fall into magical sleep and dreams.”
I say, in a similar action: “Put your feet up and take a few cleansing breaths to eliminate the high heart rate and rapid breaths of hurrying!”
Have a relaxing and fun holiday, Danica! 🎈🎆🇺🇸

Lovely concept, Danica, but I got stopped at step 1. If I sat quietly for a minute right after waking up, I’d be asleep again!

That’s a good point, maybe try standing instead of sitting…. 🙂

Good list, Dancia. I like to spend a few minutes with my eyes closed listening to te sounds of the morning when I first wake up. It helps to get me grounded.
