Welcome to my new favorite song!
I’m lingering in its beauty,
so my story around it is percolating slowly.
I also need to seek out more of his music,
solo acoustic renditions in particular since I prefer this performance to the studio release….

I could wait a thousand years, my love
I’d wait for you
I could stand in just one place, my love
And never move
As the fire burns around us in the dark
One part is the world and one’s my heart
My love, we can do better than this
My love, how can you complicate a kiss?
My love, do you love me now ’til doomsday comes
‘Til doomsday comes
Can you stand and face your fears, my love?
I will for you
I could stand in just one place, my love
And never move
As the fire burns around us in the dark
One part is the world and one’s my heart
My love, we can do better than this
My love, how can you complicate a kiss?
My love, do you love me now ’til doomsday comes
My love, oh, and I don’t know
My love, how to let my feelings go
Do you love me now ’til doomsday comes
‘Til doomsday comes
‘Til doomsday comes

Great choice, Danica (and thanks for the link!). I always reckon Adams is great when he’s on his own (though my favourite stuff is with Whiskeytown and The Cardinals). You should check out Ashes & Fire, as a lot of that is stripped.
If you like the solo performances, you should check out the Ed Sullivan Theatre show from December 2011. I believe the audio of that whole thing is available (with many other great Adams gigs) on Archive.

Thanks, J! I hope new readers visit your excellent blog. 🙂
I agree that Adams is great when he’s on his own. I’ll check out Ashes & Fire as well as the Ed Sullivan Theatre show. Thanks for the recommendations.
I do like the solo performances although my exposure is still a bit limited. I’ll have to find Whiskeytown and The Cardinals to get a more rounded experience.

I definitely enjoyed the evocative tone of his voice, simply haunting! The harmonica and music really got me tearing up, Danica. Thanks for sharing this lovely bluesy, country song. 🌾🌾

It’s so beautiful it could break your heart, couldn’t it? The lyrics, vocals, tone, the instruments… it’s simply perfect. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Robin! 🙂

I really did, Danica! I am going to have my just married oldest daughter listen to it the next time I see her!
So nice to have been able to be part of simple first wedding of 37 year old Carrie yesterday. 💕

Love and marriage are such beautiful gifts, among the best in this world. I’m very happy for her, and for you. 🙂

Awww, you are really thoughtful! It is a wonderful song, but probably played so often in the past people don’t appreciate it as much. . . Thank you, Danica! 😊

You’re right that familiarity can make us take things for granted. I haven’t heard this song much though, for some reason….
You’re very welcome, of course, Robin. 🙂

It was part of Kevin Costner’s movie about King Arthur 🛡, Danica. I’m glad he included it so I think of knights in shining armor when I hear it! xo 💐
