Lend Me Some Sugar — I Am Your Neighbor!

Let it fall, let it go
Let’s forget all we know

Dancing ’til after dark
As bands play in the park

In the sand, by the sea
Take my hand, set me free

****** ****** ******
****** ****** ******
****** ****** ******

Y’all don’t want to hear me
You just wanna dance
Now, lend me some sugar — I am your neighbor!

My baby don’t mess around
Because she loves me so
And this I know for sure

But does she really want to
But can’t stand to see me walk out the door

Don’t try to fight the feeling
‘Cause the thought alone
Is killing me right now

Hey ya, hey ya
Hey ya, hey ya…

If what they say is
Nothing is forever
Then what makes, then what makes
Then what makes love the exception?

Y’all don’t want to hear me
You just wanna dance

Don’t want to meet your daddy
Just want you in my Caddy…

All right now, fellas! (Yeah?)
Now, what’s cooler than being cool? (Ice cold!)…

All right, all right
All right, all right…

Okay now, ladies (Yeah?)
We gonna break this thing down in just a few seconds
Now don’t have me break this thing down for nothin’
Now I wanna see y’all on your baddest behavior
Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor

Shake it, shake it…
Shake it like a Polaroid picture
Sugar, shake it, shake it…
Shake it like a Polaroid picture…

Hey ya, hey ya
Hey ya, hey ya

  1. A nice companion piece to those words, Danica. Hey Ya was a lightning in a bottle moments for Andre 3000, I reckon. The whole of The Love Below was, actually… shame there’s never been a follow-up (Idlewild didn’t quite have the magic).
